Manage Your Mood Rings

At 5:17am a few weeks ago I received an email from a client. They were discontinuing coaching. The reason was convoluted and disingenuous, it didn't make any sense. The reason stated could not be the actual reason, the client made conflicting statements. On top of being fired, I didn't even have enough of a relationship with the client to tell me the truth.

I responded with clarifying questions and got the same BS response. Before I read the first email, if one were to take a “scan” of my body it would show cool, calm, peaceful, empowered, ready, safe, loving, and optimistic. Just to name a few adjectives to describe my body chemistry, hormone balance, blood pressure, fight or flight mode, etc … or to put it simply my MOOD.

Reading the email took all of 20 seconds. In those 20 seconds, I starting asking inflammatory rhetorical questions like … "What? Fired? Me? How Dare You? I am the Coach! You don’t fire the coach! What did I do wrong? Did something major happen that I don’t know about? Did I offend them? Am I not as good a coach as I thought? Will others start firing me? Have I lost it? Why would they lie to me? Do they not trust me?" And perhaps 100 more questions all in the next 20 seconds.

My mood ring was glowing hot red.

I went from a peaceful warrior glowing blue/green to an on-tilt, off my rocker, hair literally on fire red in a matter of seconds. I was weak with fear, regret, resentment, anger, disappointment, and guilt … glowing RED.

Mood swings, we tend to think they just come and go. We're just victims relegated to waiting them out. But our MOOD is our motivation. We're either motivated to hide, be small, complain, blame, and give up or we're motivated to take on any challenge, comfort any friend, or move any mountain. Our MOOD is behind it all.

Think about it. Take any project in which you're engaged, have goals, and are working towards completion. Notice the power you have to engage right after a setback. Compare it to the power you feel to engage right after a success. That power to engage is your mood … a wild concoction of your body chemistry all triggered by the story in your heart and mind.

One of the “secrets” to success is the art and science of managing our moods ... ergo our motivation. And that secret is that the parts of us that launch our MOODS cannot tell the difference between a real experience and one vividly imagined.

We can actually make up a story that changes our mood changing our motivation.

Natural winners in life are just in the habit of managing their stories and moods. They always FEEL like engaging at a high courageous level. They always feel like serving. They always feel like they deserve success. That's their story … a life story.

Some of us have to learn this art. If you feel like you're a victim to your moods, if you bob and weave based on the hand you're dealt vs the hand you play, or if you spend more time in a funk that you do fearless you'll want to learn this art as well.

I invite you to go through my Mach2 Vision Training, which is a 100% online, go-at-your-own-pace video series broken into 4 simple modules where I walk you through the exercises in my book “Mach2 With Your Hair on Fire: How to Master Self-Motivation & Stay on Fire for Life.” It includes 2.5 hours of training, 19 videos, and 17 worksheets that you can access any time, forever. Order Now!

The work is worth it,
Richard

P.S. My blogs are, for me, a conversation. I rant for a bit and then … if so inspired, you respond. Your comments close the loop of conversation. They let me know I was heard. They let me know I contributed something … or not. I encourage you to close the loop … or open a new one and say something.

Such a beautiful piece. It resonated to me. You’re very inspiring, don’t stop sharing your knowledge. I am blessed to be coached (although in a group) by you.

Thank you, Richard!

I have been focusing on self-development the past 12 years. I used to think knowledge is power, but in actual fact, it’s not!

APPLIED KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

And that’s where most people falls out of the bus. Thank you so much for teaching motivation.. Self-motivation.

I have learned so much from you the past year. Implementing it is helping me to grow forward!

Always grateful!

This training was life changing for me. I learned to manage my moods by writing inspiring cards and putting them all over the house to remind me of my TRUE mood and my TRUE identity. I also wrote a fun song which brought some fun into the days my business felt a lil less than fun. It truly is all about managing the moods by creating our stories. I really appreciate you Richard.

Great post! As always, I appreciate your honesty.
The discription of your red mood makes me chuckle… I relate to it. :-) And I’m reminded of lessons learned at your seminar, that I have not been working on consistently. Thanks for the reminder… Happy New Year!

Ha!
I feel like this gave me a bit of insight to some coaching i received a few weeks ago, during a RTR session.
I flippantly asked a question about how i find the time to follow up with all my contacts and maintain authenticity…keep in mind, this is my third RTR, so if i am following the rules, (which of course I’m not because I’m a rebel) it means that i have minimum 180 invites/members that I’m forming authentic relationships with, and following up with.
I think your words were, paraphrased…if you’re not willing to do the work, and you want to casually do the business, I’m not the right coach for you.
That really allowed me to reflect on if I actually wanted to do the work. And honestly, i found out that I don’t! I am in love with the life I have curated, credit to taking your live your bliss coaching in Kelowna. My YL business may not be flourishing, but i continue to sign up 2-4 people a month in the way that I do it, and I have personally enrolled over 170 people over the years, and I don’t want that to change.
That being said, i appreciate your coaching whole heartedly, because I am aware of what it takes to get to being a diamond. But i am also aware, that i don’t want to be a diamond. What i do want is to continue to show up as my best self, and create relationships in my authentic way, and continue to strive to be a good human. I want to continue living my life, because I think my life is perfect the way it is:)
So maybe I asked that flippant question when you received that email of getting let go. Maybe that was your perspective from
The day. Or maybe i just needed your tough love to get to the bottom of what i really wanted. What i really know, is that you’re the best person (IMO) to coach someone that wants to be extraordinary! If i decide that is me, one day, if I’m ready, i will come to Hawaii to a coaching retreat. But until then, I’m happy reading Mach 2 on fire on repeat, and getting something new everyday.
So thank you for the insight, and thank you for the coaching, and thank you for the permission to realize that at this moment, I am not interested in becoming a diamond:)

I doubt you remember because you meet so many people, but we talked at one of the Mannafest’s. I am the guy that was raised in Chowchilla and have a brother who has lived in and around Turlock for the past 40 years. Since we last talked, I have lost my son, been in hospital for 16 days with Necrotizing pneumonia (the flesh eating kind) and just have had a problem getting motivated again and at 78 it is a little hard to do. When and if I do I would certainly come to you for guidance, ie coaching. Would love to hear what’s going on with you we might even become friends if we gave it a chance.
Have a wonderful day and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Tommy
