Manifestation.
What is it really?
Is it vibrating at a certain frequency to where what you want in life automatically shows up?
Is it willing things into existence that you don’t currently have?
Is it affirming things over and over again, such that they magically appear in your path?
Maybe.
I don’t know about those mysteries. And I’m not sure I want to know about something quite so mystical.
I prefer to understand some science behind the process, and then follow those rules.
How about you?
Would you like to understand the Art of Manifesting at a more grounded level?
It may be as simple as programming your Reticular Activating System.
Huh?!
Reticular Activating System (RAS).
Google it. It is a little piece of neuroscience.
Simply put, RAS is your “attention brain filter.”
If we did not have this in our brains, everything in the world would get our attention.
We would be in a state of overwhelm times a billion. Our brains would pop as if microwaved on high for 30 minutes.
This sophisticated filter deftly filters out all information, from all of our senses – all of the noises, conversations, and things we may see, hear, or feel – and ONLY lets IN what we tell it is IMPORTANT to us.
We literally program the filter with what we want to let through.
How?
By what we hold in our minds as important.
By what we think about most of the time.
By our goals, ambitions, dreams, what we love, and what we want. Yet also by our fears, our worries, our doubts, our anger, our resentments, and our obsessions with what we don’t want.
These are our stories. These are our visions.
We see, hear and feel what our RAS allows us to. Not much else gets through.
If we are afraid something will happen to us, we tend to see evidence that it will happen. Therefore, we are led to do things that lead to our fears.
Conversely, if we believe we will achieve something, we tend to see evidence that we will achieve it. Therefore, we are led to do things that lead to our success.
Both programs are self-fulfilling prophecies. What we hold in our hearts, we are led to prove and make true.
It’s not about manifesting something out of nothing.
It is about seeing what we may not have seen before – a path, a set of tools, or bread crumbs – that lead us exactly to where we DON’T want to go or DO want to go.
Our RAS has no conscience. It does not care what happens to us. It is just a filter. Use it wisely or it uses you.

P.S. My blogs are, for me, a conversation. I rant for a bit and then … if so inspired, you respond. Your comments close the loop of conversation. They let me know I was heard. They let me know I contributed something … or not. I encourage you to close the loop … or open a new one and say something.

Great summary of the RAS and how it works; thanks Richard. I knew about the RAS previously but often forget to program it. The RAS is now front and centre of my mind. Now I need to do the work to decide what I want to program it with.
