Adapt, Improvise, Overcome

Some of us lived through the fear and chaos of World War II. Some of us the anger of the Vietnam War. Then came the gas wars, 20% mortgage rate inflation, dot com bubble, Y2K(all things we know coming to an abrupt end), 9/11 burned into our minds, the world financial crises, and now this. We always get wiser, stronger, faster, more empathetic, and more resilient. What doesn't kill us DOES make us stronger. Let’s embrace the workout. You can WATCH what happened, WONDER what happened, or MAKE something happen.

Watching What Happened

What does that look like? It looks like you glued to the news, paralyzed in perpetual "waiting" mode. Waiting to see what is going to happen, paralyzed in victim mode. Every time something happens we spend the rest of the day talking about it, posting about it, worrying about it, and dramatizing it. We become part of the problem.

Wondering What Happened

What does that look like? It looks like our heads in the sand, "I don’t watch the negative fake news" or watching only one source of news. Conservative or liberal, your bias just continues to get confirmed versus getting educated. It looks like disconnecting from reality and the world at large with your cynicism as your excuse. "They are all lying to us."Well some of them are and it's our job to figure it out or get crushed by it.

Make Something Happen

What does that look like? That looks like the Marines … adapt, improvise, and overcome.
  1. Adapt:Change your health care habits from food to nutrition to your physical contact with the public. Lower your expenses and reorganize your assets. Face the facts.
  2. Improvise:Get creative fast ... with extreme optimism and faith. How can you work most efficiently? Can you work from home? Do you need to upgrade your internet? Do you need to set up a quieter office? Do you need to set up a Zoom account? Do you need to join some Facebook and Instagram groups? Do you need to change your strategies? Do you need to create some new goals, affirmations, and Visions?
  3. Overcome: Those of us that do #1 and #2 ... will overcome. Execute consistently with optimism and faith. Stay educated so you can pivot your strategies. But, nothing is more important than CONSISTENCY. You can do more in 30 minutes a day of consistency than 99% of us do randomly with "good intentions."
Adapt, Improvise, Overcome!

How will you do it?
